Privacy policy
Effective October 31, 2026
Summary
Orbit Home has no server. The developer does not receive, keep or sell any of your data. What you set up stays on your device and, if you turn on sync, in a hidden folder of your own Google Drive.
What stays on the device
The DVR address, user name and password, the IP camera addresses, the Tuya account keys, the device list and the display preferences are kept in the system's secure storage (Keychain on iPhone, Keystore on Android). None of it leaves the device except through the connections described below.
What the app connects to
- The DVR and cameras on your network. The app connects to them directly, over the local network, to show the video and the recordings, with the user name and password you entered.
- Local network search. When you ask it to look for the DVR or a camera, the app queries the addresses of your local network, without sending any password, to find compatible devices. None of this leaves your network.
- Tuya (Smart Life). To control your devices, the app calls the Tuya cloud API with the keys of your own project. Tuya receives these requests under the Tuya privacy policy.
- Google, only if you turn on sync. See below.
Google Drive sync
Sync is optional. When you sign in with your Google account, the app asks for two accesses and uses each one only for this:
-
The app's own data in Google Drive (
drive.appdata): to save and read one file with your settings (the same ones kept on the device) in a hidden folder that only Orbit Home can see. The app has no access to your other Drive files. - Your e-mail address: to show in Settings which account is connected.
The data stays in your Google account, protected by Google, and goes through no server of the developer. Orbit Home's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Device permissions
- Local network: to talk to the DVR and the cameras.
- Face ID or biometrics: only if you turn on the app lock. The system does the check, and the app only receives the result.
Deleting your data
- On the device: uninstall the app. A new install starts with no data.
- In Google Drive: in the app, tap Settings › Sync › Delete Drive data. You can also delete it from Drive, in Settings › Manage apps › Orbit Home › Delete hidden app data. To remove the app's access, go to myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13.
Your rights
You have the rights given by the data protection laws that apply to you, such as the Brazilian LGPD or the GDPR. Since the developer keeps none of your data, requests to access or delete it are covered by the steps above. For any question, write to the contact below.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page, with its date at the top. Changes that widen the use of your data are announced in the app before they apply.
